Mary HOLTON

Aged 25 on marriage.

Marriage Notes for James Mendenhall and Mary HOLTON

Conflict between place of marriage:
The bride's parish of Warminster was the actual place of marriage.  James's parish was in Bath.  The IGI reference to Chipping Sodbury appears to relate to their place of residence following their marriage.

Surname change:
The surname 'MENDENALL' is clearly printed on the parish record (presumably by the curate) but James signs himself as 'Mindenhall'.  Hence, the corruption from 'Mildenhall' (at baptism) to 'Mendenhall' (at burial) appears to have occurred at the time of his marriage in Warminster.
