The surname 'MENDENALL' is clearly printed on the parish record (presumably by the curate) but James signs himself as 'Mindenhall'. Hence, the corruption from 'Mildenhall' (at baptism) to 'Mendenhall' (at burial) appears to have occurred at the time of his marriage in Warminster.
